About Should I Mask?

ShouldIMask.org is a free public service created to help you make informed decisions about mask and respirator usage during uncertain times. Whether you’re concerned about air quality, seasonal allergies, or respiratory viruses, our simple four-step guide walks you through assessing your environment and personal risk factors to deliver real-time recommendations.

Our mission is to keep communities safe by providing clear, science-backed guidance on when and where mask use is most beneficial. We aggregate real-time environmental and health data—including Air Quality Index (AQI), regional influenza-like illness (ILI) percentages, and current COVID-19 case counts—to tailor recommendations based on your local conditions, space type, crowding level, and personal health risk factors.
